    For over 100 years, ‘Service Above Self” has been the mantra of Rotarians worldwide. The same holds true for the Lewis Center/Polaris Rotary club. Our service teams focus on Five Avenues of Service…

    1. COMMUNITY SERVICE

    Our most active service team spearheads our service projects in Lewis Center, Orange Township and the Polaris Commerce Center. Past projects for our club include:

    • Our annual Rotary Cup miniature golf tournament, benefiting Big Brothers/Big Sisters and other club service projects, matches Rotarians with littles into teams;
    • Monetary and volunteer support for People in Need’s Holiday Clearing House to help all children enjoy a happy and healthy holiday season [appreciation letter from Delaware County PIN];
    • Kick Cancer fund raising for an endowment for cancer research at the James Cancer Center;
    • Food/clothing collection for the Salvation Army’s Hurricane Katrina relief;
    • Support for other local health and hunger-related projects, like the Dooley’s Orchard food drive [appreciation letter from The Promise].

    2. VOCATIONAL SERVICE

    This service team heads up:

    • Our annual Adult Education Scholarships for students of the Delaware County Career Center and The Ohio State University Delaware branch [scholarship application, PDF];
    • Volunteer support of Olentangy Local Schools kickoff of their summer reading program.

    3. INTERNATIONAL SERVICE

    This service team is in charge of projects that benefit the international community and fundraising for the Rotary International Foundation. This service team:

    • Led a cultural exchange of banking professionals from Russia who came to America in April 2006 to learn more about our independent banking system and life in the United States;
    • Co-sponsors the Barrio Lindo Economic development project in the Dominican Republic to provide safe drinking water, health and vocational education;
    • Leads our club’s support of Rotary International’s Polio Plus program to finally rid the disease from the four remaining countries of the world;
    • Organizes club support of the Rotary Foundation and Rotary International’s Group Study Exchange.

    4. CLUB SERVICE

    This service team handles the program for our outstanding weekly meetings, club communication (like our Twitter feed and the website you’re reading now) and club fellowship events like:

    • Bagels, Berries and Bloody Marys - our annual holiday party and white elephant gift exchange;
    • Club member social outings include: golf outings, wine tastings and Make-Over night;
    • Events for members and their families like: Family Bowling Night and our annual picnic/barbecue.

    5. NEW GENERATIONS

    This service team is in charge of projects that specifically benefit youth locally, nationally and internationally. This includes:
